Indian team announced for 2025 Womens ODI World Cup

The Women's World Cup 2025 is to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka and now the Indian women's team has been announced for this. Harmanpreet Kaur has been given the responsibility of captaincy, while Smriti Mandhana has been made the vice-captain. Players who have been performing well in domestic cricket for some time have got a chance.

Shefali Verma did not get a place in the team

Indian team's star opener Shefali Verma has been shown the way out of the team. The selectors had given her a place in the team for the England tour. But she could not impress. Then only 3, 47, 31 and 75 runs came from her bat. Whereas against Australia-A, she scored only 3, 3 and 41 runs. For the Indian women's team, the pair of Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal performed strongly and won many matches for the team on their own. The Mandhana-Raval pair has been trusted for the World Cup 2025.

The Indian women's team includes batsmen like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Jemima Rodriguez. While the bowling attack includes players like Renuka Singh, Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav and Sneh Rana. The Indian team has not yet won the Women's World Cup title. India has made it to the finals of the Women's World Cup twice (2005, 2017), but both times it had to face defeat.

8 teams are participating in the Women's World Cup

A total of 8 teams, including the Indian team, are participating in the Women's World Cup 2025. These include teams from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, England and New Zealand. The Indian women's team will play its first match against the Sri Lankan team on 30 September.
