The Indian team has suffered a major setback before the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand. Middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of this ODI series due to back injury. He has been sent to the National Cricket Academy, where he will be looked after.
Giving information, the BCCI said that Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand and Rajat Patidar has been included in his place. The first ODI against New Zealand will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Iyer, who was the most successful Indian player in all formats of cricket in 2022, may not have played any big innings in the series against Sri Lanka, but he has impressed with his batting. In the ODI series against Sri Lanka, he scored 94 runs in 3 matches at an average of 31.33.
