ICC U19 World Cup: India defeated Afghanistan to reach the World Cup final for the 10th time
The second semi-final match of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 was played between India and Afghanistan on Wednesday (February 4) at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Team India won the match by 7 wickets and secured their place in the final. This will be Team India's 10th appearance in the Under-19 World Cup final. The Men in Blue easily chased down the target of 311 runs in 41.1 overs. Opening batsman Aaron George was the top scorer for the team, scoring 115 runs off 104 balls with the help of 15 fours and 2 sixes.
This was the highest successful run chase in the history of the Under-19 World Cup. Previously, New Zealand had chased down 305 runs against Ireland in 2006. India has now broken this world record and advanced to the final.
Afghanistan U19 Team Scorecard -
In the second semi-final, Afghanistan batted first and scored 310 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 50 overs. Faisal Shinwari played the highest innings for the team, scoring 110 runs off 93 balls with the help of 15 fours. Uzairullah also made a significant contribution, scoring 101* runs off 86 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes. For India, Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan were the highest wicket-takers, both taking 2 wickets each.

Chasing the target, Team India successfully chased down the runs in just 41.1 overs, losing only 3 wickets. Opener Aaron George played the highest innings for the team and scored a century. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre also scored half-centuries. For Afghanistan, Nooristani Umarazai was the highest wicket-taker, taking 2 wickets.

The final match of the tournament will be played between India and England on Friday, February 6th. The final match, which will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, will start at 1 PM Indian Standard Time. Team India will be looking to win the title for the sixth time in this match.
