Harry Brook overtook Joe Root to become number 1 batsman in Tests: England's Harry Brook became the number one batsman in the latest Test rankings updated by the ICC on December 11. The 25-year-old Brook overtook his fellow batsman Joe Root to take the number one position in men's Test batting for the first time in his career. Harry has topped the rankings for the first time in his career.
Let us tell you that Harry Brook made his debut for England only 27 months ago and in such a short time he has become the number one batsman in Tests. India's Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja remain at the top of the bowling and all-rounders rankings. Harry Brook now has 898 rating points, while Joe Root is just one rating point behind him. Joe Root has 897 rating points to his name.
Harry Brook's Test career
- Talking about Brook, he has scored 2280 runs in 23 Test matches with an impressive average of 61.62 and eight centuries. England's star batsman Brook has scored 1099 runs including four centuries in 11 Test matches in 2024. Root reached number one in July this year, surpassing former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, and achieved the number one position for the ninth time.
- In the ongoing series against New Zealand, Brook made a great start to the series by scoring 171 runs in Christchurch and then continued his form by scoring 123 and 55 in Wellington. On the other hand, Root has scored a century in four innings in the series in New Zealand.
