ICC action against Arshdeep Singh, fined for hitting New Zealand Daryl Mitchell: The ICC has taken strict action against Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. During the T20 World Cup 2026 final, he bowled aggressively towards Kiwi batsman Daryl Mitchell, which briefly heated up the on-field atmosphere.

ICC fines Arshdeep Singh -

Arshdeep Singh was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to throwing the ball (or any other cricket object) at, or in a dangerous manner, during an international match. In addition to the fine, Arshdeep also received one demerit point on his disciplinary record, as this was his first offense in the last 24 months.

When did this incident happen?

The incident occurred during the 11th over of New Zealand's innings in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, when Arshdeep Singh came on to bowl his second over. During this over, Daryl Mitchell hit two sixes off Arshdeep's bowling, including one in front of him. Arshdeep picked up the ball and threw it forcefully towards him. The ball was well outside the wicket and hit Mitchell's shoulder, leading to a heated argument on the field.

Daryl Mitchell became angry and immediately complained to the umpire. As the argument escalated, the umpire and Suryakumar Yadav had to calm the situation. After the over, Arshdeep Singh apologized to Mitchell. After the match, Arshdeep apologized, and the ICC shared the video.

Such incidents fall under Level 1. Mitchell has been given two demerit points. If he accumulates four demerit points in 24 months, he is banned from one Test match or two white-ball matches.
