New Zealand scored 269 for seven in 50 overs, thanks to Daryl Mitchell's match-winning 119. Opener Devon Conway scored 48, while Michael Bracewell contributed 35 to keep the Black Caps afloat in the middle overs. Zachary Faulks remained unbeaten on 22.
New Zealand dominated the bowling, with fast bowler Kyle Jamieson dismissing three West Indies batsmen, while the trio of Santner, Matt Henry, and Faulks also took wickets. The Black Caps maintained composure in the final overs and won by a narrow margin of seven runs.
West Indies came close to victory with 261/6. Casey Carty scored 34, Shai Hope 31, and Sherfane Rutherford 53. Romario Shepherd and Justin Greaves fought valiantly, scoring unbeaten 22* and 35*, respectively, but fell in the final overs. Jayden Seales was brilliant in bowling, taking three wickets, while Matthew Ford took two. However, the target was challenging due to a lack of runs in the middle overs.
