Many questions are being raised about the pitch of the Kolkata Test, where both Indian and South African batsmen struggled to score runs. This can be gauged from the fact that only Temba Bavuma managed to score a half-century in all four innings. Harbhajan Singh was so upset that he even wrote RIP Test cricket.
Not only Harbhajan Singh, but many other veterans have also raised questions about the pitch. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan also called it a poor pitch. Aaron Finch also commented on the situation. Speaking of Harbhajan Singh, he posted on Instagram, "India vs South Africa Test cricket was almost over on day two. What a joke." Bhajji also added the hashtag #RIPTESTCRICKET.
Harbhajan Singh, who always speaks out, shared a video on this and wrote, "Yesterday I talked about the Kolkata Test, which ruined Test cricket. This practice has been going on for years; it's the wrong way to play. We're not progressing, we're just running like millstones. We're winning, but it's not yielding any results."
Harbhajan Singh further said, What's the point if batsmen are getting out because of the pitch rather than the bowler's ability? It's disgusting to see. The way cricket is being played, matches are ending in two and a half days, it's very surprising to me. We lost to New Zealand, then this series. We went to England, played such good cricket, but then lost at home.
Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan posted a post on the second day of the Kolkata Test, calling the pitch "poor." He wrote, "The pitch in Kolkata is awful.
Former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch wrote, What are your thoughts on the kind of wicket we're seeing in Kolkata? I love seeing the fielders surround the batsmen completely, and the ball spins so much, it's a lot of fun to watch.
