India's biggest domestic One Day International tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, kicked off with great enthusiasm. Nineteen matches were played on the very first day, but the most talked-about performances were those of two Indian cricket legends, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both scored magnificent centuries, but unfortunately, fans were unable to watch these historic innings live. This became the main reason for the viewers' anger, leading to widespread trolling of the world's richest cricket board.
In a match played in Jaipur, Rohit Sharma scored a century against Sikkim in just 62 balls and remained unbeaten on 155 runs off 94 balls. His innings included 18 fours and 9 sixes. Meanwhile, playing for Delhi in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli played a crucial innings of 133 runs off 101 balls against Andhra Pradesh, leading his team to victory. These performances by both batsmen clearly demonstrated their strong presence in domestic cricket.
After the match ended, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared videos of Rohit and Virat's innings on social media. The BCCI called it a special gift for the fans, but this gift backfired. The video quality was extremely poor, lacking proper angles and clear visuals. Cricket fans universally criticized the board for this.
Despite being the world's richest cricket board, the BCCI faced the wrath of fans for sharing such poor-quality videos. The BCCI was heavily trolled on social media. Many users questioned why, when high-quality broadcasts are possible for international matches, such negligence occurred in a domestic tournament.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are considered to be in the twilight of their careers. Both have retired from Test and T20 International cricket, and their primary focus is now on One Day International (ODI) cricket. Recent statistics show that since the Australia tour, Virat has scored three centuries and two half-centuries in five matches, while Rohit has scored two centuries and three half-centuries in seven matches.
