The thrilling Hong Kong Sixes 2025 tournament is set to kick off on November 7, with the final scheduled for November 9. The three-day cricket extravaganza will feature 12 teams, divided into four groups of three. India has been placed in Group C alongside Pakistan and Kuwait.

Dinesh Karthik Named India’s Captain

The Indian squad for the Hong Kong Sixes has been announced, with veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik appointed as captain. Interestingly, senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who had initially agreed to participate, has withdrawn his name from the tournament.

The Indian lineup includes several experienced names such as Robin Uthappa, Bharat Chipli, Shahbaz Nadeem, Priyank Panchal, Stuart Binny, and Abhimanyu Mithun.

The Hong Kong Sixes tournament began in 1992. India has won the title only once, back in 2005. Teams from Pakistan, England, and South Africa have been the most successful, with five titles each, while Sri Lanka and India have won it once each.

The Hong Kong Sixes is known for its fast-paced and entertaining format.

Each match consists of 6 overs per side.

In semifinals and finals, each over consists of 8 balls.

There are no free-hits for no-balls.

If a batsman scores 50 runs, he must retire hurt, allowing other players to bat.
