Bhai Dooj 2023 Date: The date of Bhai Dooj, the festival of brother and sister, has changed this time. This festival is celebrated on the second day of Diwali in the month of Kartik. This time, due to increase or decrease in Bhugata Bhogya, the date of Bhai Dooj has also increased.

Bhai Dooj 2023 Date: The festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated after Diwali. This time the five-day festival of Diwali is for six days. Due to this, the date of Bhai Dooj has also changed. While Govardhan Puja is on 14th November, Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on 15th November.

The festival of Yam Dwitiya (Bhaiya Dooj) will be celebrated on 15th November i.e. at Mathura Vishram Ghat. On this day, brothers and sisters will hold each other's hands and take a dip in Yamuna to free themselves from Yama's trap. After this, they will worship and seek their wishes in the only Yamuna-Dharmaraj temple known as brother-sister. Sisters will pray to their brothers and pray for their long life.

Lakhs of devotees come on this day

It is said that Yama and Yami, the children of Surya Narayan and Sandhya, are brother and sister. Pleased with the penance done by Yami i.e. Yamuna in Satyayuga, Narayana said that I will incarnate in the form of Shri Krishna in Dwapar and will bless you. This is the reason that while Vasudev was taking Shri Krishna to Gokul, Yamuna ji touched the feet of Shri Krishna. Every year on Yama Dwitiya, lakhs of devotees visit this temple after taking bath at Vishram Ghat.

Dharamraj had come to meet Yamuna on Dooj, had given a boon

On the invitation of sister Yamuna, brother Dharamraj coincidentally came to meet his sister on the day of Dooj after Diwali. Yamuna respectfully honored brother Dharamraj and offered him fifty-six offerings. Pleased with his sister's hospitality, Dharamraj asked her to ask for a groom. Yamuna asked for a boon that on the festival of Yam Dwitiya, all the brothers and sisters who visit this temple holding hands and take bath at Vishram Ghat, should not go to Yamalok after death. Dharamraj gladly accepted this boon asked by Yamuna ji.
