This is considered Bangladesh's most humiliating series defeat against Afghanistan. However, Bangladesh had previously defeated Afghanistan 3-0 in the T20 series.
When the team returned home, they were greeted not with applause but with booing and angry slogans at Dhaka Airport. According to reports, stones were thrown at some players' vehicles, and the situation became so tense that police had to provide additional security.
Haunted by these incidents, young batsman Mohammad Naeem Sheikh wrote an emotional note on social media. He said, "We don't just go to the field to play, we go to the field with the name of our country on our chests." He also wrote that winning and losing are part of the game, but the attack on vehicles is heartbreaking.
Naeem wrote, "We are all children of the same flag. Whether we win or lose, this red-green flag is a symbol of our pride." His post was dated the night of October 15, while the series ended on October 14.
This is the first time Afghanistan has clean-swept Bangladesh in an ODI series. This victory boosted the team's morale and strengthened their preparations for the 2027 World Cup. This series gives a glimpse of Afghanistan's emerging dominance in Asian cricket.
