The Indian team has suffered a major setback during the Rajkot Test being played against England. Star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn his name from the middle match. He has withdrawn his name with immediate effect due to medical emergency in the family.

Ashwin withdraws from the 3rd test due to family emergency

Due to a family medical emergency, Indian team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn his name from the Test team with immediate effect. He will also not be able to participate further in the ongoing third India vs England Test match at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. R Ashwin took his 500th Test wicket on Friday afternoon and just a few hours later he had to leave the Test team due to a family emergency. BCCI itself has given this information.

In a media release from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, it has been said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the entire team fully support Ashwin in this challenging time. BCCI extends its support to the champion cricketer and his family. The health and well-being of players and their loved ones is of utmost importance. The Board requests that the privacy of Ashwin and his family be respected as they go through this challenging time.
