As per legal proceedings, the couple initially filed for divorce in the family court and requested a waiver for the mandatory six-month cooling-off period. However, the court declined their request, citing that the full alimony amount had not yet been settled. Reports indicate that Chahal had paid Rs 2.37 crore out of the agreed Rs 4.75 crore at the time of their plea.
