The opening ceremony will feature spectacular performances by renowned Indian artists, including renowned playback singer Shreya Ghoshal as the lead vocalist. She will perform the official World Cup anthem, "Bring It Home," and also pay a heartfelt tribute to the recently deceased Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. She will be joined by Angaraag Papon Mahanta (also known as Papon), Joi Barua, and the Shillong Choir Chamber, who will collectively pay tribute to Zubeen Garg through musical renditions of his immortal works.
Due to Zubeen Garg's untimely passing, the event will have a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere, and the original celebration plans have been altered accordingly. The ceremony will showcase the rich heritage of Northeast India with music, lighting, and regional cultural elements.
The ceremony will begin at approximately 1:45 PM IST, just before the toss and start of the first match. Following this, the tournament's first match between India and Sri Lanka will take place at 3:00 PM IST on the same day at the same venue.
Fans wishing to watch the opening ceremony live can do so through the Star Sports network, which is expected to begin broadcasting the ceremony approximately 30 minutes to an hour before the match. For online streaming, the Jio Hotstar platform in India will broadcast the ceremony and match live, allowing it to reach a wider audience.
