Winning Dream11 Fantasy Lineups for the Club World Cup Showdown

On 29th June, Paris St-Germain and Inter Miami went head-to-head in round 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. It was a match many were eager to see, and all the pressure was on Inter Miami. If Inter were to get to the quarterfinals, then they needed to pull out all the stops in order to do so against European Champions PSG. The Club World Cup started off well for Inter as they were drawn in a favorable group, giving them a relatively free ride to the final 16. But it was there that they were ultimately challenged by PSG. Over the last season, the French team has been incredibly dominant, and so it proved to be here.

In the end, the Inter Miami v PSG match was over in rapid style. The favorites to win the Club World Cup dispatched Inter with a dominant performance, notching up a 4-0 win over that team.

Dream11 Fantasy lineup choices

As such, anyone who had thought about this matchup in detail, or checked out player odds when betting Malawi, would have had a solid idea which way this was going to go. Yes, Messi was playing for Inter Miami, but even his presence was never going to be enough to take down the giants that are PSG right now. Many may have fallen prey to the fact that PSG's star player, Ousmane Dembele was out injured, but this, as history shows, made not an ounce of impact in the end.

Choosing the right players therefore, was key for anyone looking to succeed in the fantasy game. And while star players might be attractive, they're more expensive and are often targeted by the opposition, shutting down much of their capabilities. For this game, the better option for captain was, without a doubt, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, especially given the predicted winner of this match-up being PSG. Known for his dribbling skills, he was an excellent fantasy team choice against a side like Inter Miami, whose defensive structure still needs work.

However, when vice-captains come into play, there's more leeway here, and Messi, thanks to his strong gameplay capabilities and movement on the ball, was a solid option for potentially gaining fantasy points through assists and general involvement in key moments. Other top picks included Desire Doue, who had already scored 15 goals and performed 14 assists over 57 games in the previous season. Yet to score in the Club World Cup, he was still a strong option for this game, although, in the end, he still didn't score.

For anyone looking outside the box though, João Névé turned out to be a great option. Previously overlooked, he scored a double in the first half of the game and helped to put PSG emphatically on the front foot. Adding him to the Dream11 team, alongside Achraf Halim, who scored a late goal, would have really bolstered the points on offer, pushing anyone with these two higher up the rankings.

Of course, overall, it would have been sensible to ensure that five of the eleven picks were from PSG as most betting outlets were already predicting a solid win for the French side.

What's next for PSG

Now, the team is headed into the semi-finals. If they can make it past Real Madrid, then they're on to the final. For an exciting finish to the tournament, there are a lot of top French players fighting it out against one another. With Dembele back fit, and Kylian Mbappe to oppose him, this looks like a juicy matchup. Putting both of these players on the Dream11 team might be a good call, but they also might cancel each other out in terms of points, so this is worth thinking about. Given Névés performance against Inter, he may be a good one to add again, with Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha being some other solid options.

PSG are still touted to be the victors, but both teams are missing some key defensive players. For PSG, this is in the shape of William Pacho, who is a solid superstar in the making. His replacement, Lucas Beraldo, isn't even on the same level, so PSG may not be able to press as hard as they would with Pacho on the field. It's not one-sided though, as Real Madrid's Dean Huijsen is also out, leading to the possibility of mistake-riddled Raul Asencio returning. Whatever happens, this will be a thrilling game and one that determines who is in the Club World Cup final.
