In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face off against Punjab Kings (PBKS). This clash between PBKS and SRH is scheduled to be played on April 11 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The 2016 IPL champions have played three matches in the tournament so far, winning one and suffering defeat in two. With two points, they currently sit in sixth place on the points table.
PBKS has played two consecutive matches against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out due to rain. Notably, SRH has not yet had the services of their captain, Pat Cummins, in the IPL 2026 season. He was ruled out of the tournament's opening matches due to a back injury, and Ishan Kishan was appointed as captain.
Pat Cummins Injury Update
Pat Cummins is battling a 'lumbar stress injury' in his back. He sustained this injury last July during Australia's tour of the West Indies. He last played a Test match during 'The Ashes 2025-26' campaign, in which he participated in one match but was forced to withdraw from the series due to a recurrence of the injury. He was also unable to play in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Pat Cummins will not be able to play the SRH vs PBKS match in IPL 2026
Cummins is in the final stages of his rehabilitation and is preparing to make a comeback in IPL 2026. However, he will not be able to play in SRH's upcoming match against PBKS. Currently, he is in Australia for a final assessment of his back injury. This assessment will be conducted by Cricket Australia (CA). If he clears this test, he will receive a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) to play in IPL 2026. It is expected that he will join the SRH squad after April 17. Consequently, he is eagerly looking forward to playing in the second half of the tournament.
