Gautam Gambhir New Indian Head Coach: The tenure of Indian team's head coach Rahul Dravid has ended with the end of the T20 World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited applications for this and Secretary Jay Shah himself had said that two candidates have been interviewed for the post of coach. However, who will be the next head coach of the team has not been announced yet. Former batsman Gautam Gambhir is believed to be leading the race.
After Dravid's tenure ended, the Indian team has gone under the leadership of National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman for a five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. India is to tour Sri Lanka after this and it is believed that the team will get a new head coach before that. However, there is a delay in announcing the coach and the team has not been able to get a coach till now. In such a situation, the question is arising that when will the Indian team get a new coach?

Why Gautam Gambhir not been appointed as India's new head coach yet?
- According to a report in the Indian Express, the matter between Gambhir and the BCCI is stuck regarding the salary, due to which the official announcement of the coach has not been made yet. Apart from Dravid, the tenure of batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T. Dilip has also ended. After the official announcement of Gambhir's name, the board also has to decide on the appointment of other coaching staff. It is also reported that the BCCI has given Gambhir a free hand to choose the supporting staff. It is also believed that the batting coach may not be appointed as Gambhir himself was a top level opener during his playing days.
- BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had said a few days ago, 'The appointment of coach and selector will be done soon. The CSC has finalized the names of two candidates after taking the interview and we will move forward on the decision after reaching Mumbai. The new coach will join the team before the Sri Lanka series.' A three-match T20 and an equal number of ODI series will be played between India and Sri Lanka. This series will start from July 27.
