Why did Gary Kirsten resign from the post of coach of Pakistan team?

There is turmoil in the Pakistan cricket team at the moment as the head coach of the ODI and T20 team, Gary Kirsten, has resigned from his post. This decision was not expected from Kirsten. His decision has created turmoil in Pakistan cricket. If reports are to be believed, Kirsten was not happy with the attitude of PCB and hence he took this step.

Gary Kirsten resigned from the post of Pakistan team coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced the team for the Australia and Zimbabwe tour on Sunday. But a day after this, PCB got a shock. Pakistan's limited overs head coach Gary Kirsten has resigned from his post. Kirsten's tenure was for two years, but the former South African batsman left his post after just six months. Everyone has a question in their mind that why did Kirsten do this? PCB and Pakistan team fans had a lot of expectations from Kirsten. India won the ODI World Cup in 2011 under his coaching. The whole of Pakistan was hoping that Kirsten would bring changes in the team. But he left the post midway.

Reasons for Gary Kirsten's resignation

Pakistan's website Geo News has given information about Kirsten's resignation in its report citing sources. After some time, PCB also made an official announcement of this and appointed Jason Gillespie as the coach of the team on the Australia tour. But the question is what happened that Kirsten had to take this decision. Many reasons are being given for this. If the report of Geo News is to be believed, Kirsten had demanded to appoint David Reid as the high performance coach of the team and said that he would not go to Australia with the team without him. PCB did not listen to him.

Apart from this, Kirsten was also not following his two-year contract according to which he had to stay in Pakistan but Kirsten refused to do so. He had said that he would join the team five-six days before the series.

Selection committee is also a reason

Another reason being given is that Kirsten was upset with the excessive interference of the selection committee. The PCB had forbidden the Test and limited overs team coach from interfering in the selection committee and said that the selection of the team is completely dependent on the committee. Kirsten was said to be unhappy with this.

According to the report of the website ESPNcricinfo, the delay in announcing the team for the Australia and Zimbabwe tour and the announcement of the new captain was also a reason for this. Kirsten wanted his opinion to be given importance in these matters. When the name of Mohammad Rizwan was announced as the new captain of Pakistan's ODI and T20 team, Kirsten was not even in the country.
