Diageo, the franchise's current owner, has taken steps in this regard. The company hopes to fetch approximately $2 billion from the sale of the team. Diageo has also contacted two major banks for advice on the matter. Following this news, several major business houses have expressed interest in acquiring RCB.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Serum Institute head Adar Poonawalla has already expressed his desire to acquire RCB. He recently commented on social media that RCB could be acquired if the price is right.

Now, it is reported that in addition to Poonawalla, two major Indian conglomerates – the JSW Group and the Adani Group – are also showing interest in acquiring this popular Bengaluru franchise. In addition to these three, a billionaire businessman from Delhi and two US-based private equity firms are also considering acquiring RCB.

1. Poonawala Family: This family has previously expressed interest in purchasing an IPL team. When two new teams were added in 2010, the Poonawalas even obtained tender documents.

2. JSW Group: Parth Jindal of this group currently holds a 50% stake in Delhi Capitals. If the JSW Group succeeds in acquiring RCB, they will have to give up their stake in Delhi Capitals. The JSW Group also owns Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL).

3. Adani Group: This group has been trying to acquire an IPL team for a long time. They bid for the Ahmedabad franchise in 2022, but were unsuccessful.

Diageo Group's core business is liquor and it now wants to focus more on that. As part of this strategy, attempts are being made to sell the IPL team. However, Diageo's Indian branch is not in favor of this and believes that RCB should be retained.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been a part of the IPL since its inaugural season. The team won its first IPL title in 2025 by defeating Punjab Kings in the final. RCB boasts superstar players like Virat Kohli, and big names like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have also played for it. The team is very popular among fans.
