Ashutosh Sharma batted brilliantly for Delhi Capitals against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL. Just like the match-winning innings he played for Punjab Kings last year, he played another match-winning innings and led the team to victory. Then he did the same against Lucknow this season.
Ashutosh batted without getting out and scored 66 runs off his first 31 balls. During this, he hit 10 boundaries between fours and sixes and handed Lucknow its first defeat. Ashutosh Sharma kept his composure and then set Vizag on fire with his explosive stroke play, helping Delhi Capitals to a heart-breaking last-over win against Lucknow Super Giants in their first match of IPL 2025.
Ashutosh Sharma was born in Ratlam, a small town in Madhya Pradesh and studied in Indore. Ashutosh came into the limelight in the year 2023 through the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the group stage match against Arunachal Pradesh, Ashutosh scored a half-century in 11 balls, which was the fastest half-century by an Indian batsman in T20. During this, Ashutosh broke Yuvraj Singh's 16-year-old record. Yuvi had scored a half-century in 12 balls in the T20 World Cup 2007.
After Punjab's win against Gujarat, Ashutosh said that in 2019 I scored 84 runs in my last game for Madhya Pradesh in T20 and in the same year a professional coach came and he did not like me. Even in the selection trials, I scored around 90 runs in 40-45 balls, but in the evening when the team was announced for Syed Mushtaq Ali, I was not selected. So I went into depression at that time because I had performed very well that year. We also played Under-23 and I scored 200 runs in four matches.
