There is good news for fans eagerly waiting for the India vs Pakistan cricket match. Both teams may be placed in the same group in the Cricket Asia Cup 2025. Sources told India Today that Team India and Pakistan cricket team may be placed in the same group. BCCI officials virtually participated in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting held in Dhaka on Thursday.
Sources India Today BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, Asian Cricket Council president and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi will meet in a few days to finalise the venues and schedule of matches in the tournament.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia while speaking to CNN News18 said, An announcement will be made in a few days regarding the Cricket Asia Cup. Vice-president Rajeev Shukla ji attended the ICC meeting, he will inform the other members.
News18 quoted a source as saying that the Asia Cup will be hosted by the UAE. The source said, The BCCI will host the Asia Cup in the UAE. The Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai. The schedule is still under discussion.
After the Pahalgam attack, tension between India and Pakistan had increased, due to which the Asia Cup was in trouble. Earlier there was news that Team India might decide not to play in it. But now it seems that the obstacles regarding this have been removed. Anyway, both the teams play only in big events like ICC tournaments or Asia Cup.
There were also reports that the BCCI has demanded that the Indian team should not be placed in the same group with Pakistan in the upcoming tournament. Now the news is that India and Pakistan may be placed in the same group in Asia Cup 2025.
The Men Asia Cup 2025 will be the 17th edition of the tournament. It is expected to be held between September 5 and 21, although the schedule is yet to be finalised. It will be played in the T20 format and according to reports, all the matches will take place in the United Arab Emirates. A total of 8 teams will participate in it.
8 teams will be divided into groups of 4 each. According to the report, India and Pakistan will be in the same group, if this happens then a match will be confirmed between the two. The top 2 teams of each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage and the remaining 2 teams will be eliminated. The final match will be played between the top 2 teams of Super 4.
