West Indies Shamar Joseph ruled out of India series: West Indies have suffered a major setback ahead of the Test series against India, with fast bowler Shamar Joseph ruled out of the two-match series. Shamar will be unable to play in the series due to injury, and Cricket West Indies has named uncapped all-rounder Johanan Lane in his place. The first match of the series between India and West Indies will be played in Ahmedabad on October 2.
West Indies Cricket posted on its X account, "Johanan Lane will replace Shamar Joseph for the Test series against India. Joseph has been ruled out due to injury and will be re-evaluated before the limited-overs series against Bangladesh." West Indies Cricket, however, did not provide details about Joseph's injury. Joseph's absence from the crucial series against India is a major blow to the visiting team.
