Shubman Gill’s India played the third and final ODI against Australia on Saturday, October 25, at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia had already won the series by winning the first two ODIs, but India wanted to finish the series with a win.

Australia’s Batting Start

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Their openers, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh, gave a good start. But Head was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the last over of the first powerplay, and Marsh got out in the 16th over, caught by Axar Patel.

Virat Kohli’s Brilliant Catch

Matthew Short and Matt Renshaw were batting well for Australia. In the 23rd over, Shubman Gill brought back Washington Sundar to bowl. Sundar bowled a slower ball outside off stump. Short tried to hit it with a pull shot but hit it straight to square leg.

Virat Kohli, standing at square leg, reacted quickly. He crouched low and took a stunning catch, dismissing Short for 30 runs off 41 balls. Short was surprised, and Australia’s score became 124/3 after 22.3 overs.

Why This Catch Was Special

This catch showed once again that Virat Kohli is one of the best fielders in the world. His quick reflexes and alertness make a big difference for India in close matches.
