AB de Villiers Fiery Fifty in the WCL : On the basis of AB de Villiers' (61*) stormy half-century, South Africa Champions defeated India Champions by 88 runs on the basis of Duckworth Lewis rule in the sixth match of WCL.

In the match played in Northampton, South Africa Champions batted first and scored 206 runs by losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Then due to rain, India Champions got a target of 200 runs in 18.2 overs. India Champions team could score only 111/9.

India Champions vs South Africa Champions Highlights

Chasing a huge target, India Champions had a poor start. They lost their top four wickets for 28 runs. Robin Uthappa (2), Shikhar Dhawan (1), Suresh Raina (16) and Ambati Rayudu (0) returned to the pavilion in quick succession.

Stuart Binny (37*) remained unbeaten till the end, but he longed for support from the other end. No batsman of India Champions could hold his ground at the crease. Yusuf Pathan (5), Irfan Pathan (10), Piyush Chawla (9), and Vinay Kumar (13) failed to play big innings. With this defeat, India Champions are at the last position in the points table of WCL.

Let us tell you that India Champions won the toss and decided to bowl first and it proved costly for them. The top order of South Africa Champions made useful contributions, due to which the team was successful in putting up a big score.

Hashim Amla (22) and Jacques Rudolph (24) made a quick start and added 35 runs. Piyush Chawla broke this partnership by taking Amla's wicket. Rudolph was run out by Yuvraj and Yusuf in a joint effort. Sarel Erwee was bowled by Yusuf Pathan.

After this AB de Villiers took the Indian Champions' bowlers to task. He scored an unbeaten 61 runs in just 30 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. ABD's strike rate was 203.33. Apart from this, JP Duminy (16), Wayne Parnell (11), JJ Smuts (30) and Morne van Wyk (18*) made useful contributions and took the team to a huge score of 206/6.
