A strange and shocking moment took place during match number six of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. During the toss between India Women and Pakistan Women, a big mistake by the match referee created confusion and made headlines across the cricket world.

The Toss Blunder Video Goes Viral

When Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur flipped the coin, Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana clearly called “tails”.

However, the match referee mistakenly announced that Fatima had called “heads.” The coin landed on heads, and the referee declared Pakistan as the toss winner, even though Fatima had made the wrong call.

This moment was captured on camera, and now the video of the toss blunder is going viral on social media. Fans can be heard expressing surprise, and many are calling for a review of the incident by the match officials.

After being declared the winner of the toss, Fatima Sana decided to bowl first, giving Pakistan Women an early advantage.

India Women Batting Struggles Against Pakistan

Batting first, Team India Women had a decent start. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal built a partnership of 48 runs in nine overs.

  • Smriti Mandhana scored 23 runs off 32 balls with four boundaries.
  • Pratika Rawal added 31 runs off 37 balls, hitting five fours.

After the first wicket, India’s innings started to slow down as wickets kept falling regularly. The team struggled to maintain momentum against disciplined Pakistani bowling.

Harleen Deol and Jemimah Rodrigues Fight Back

Middle-order batter Harleen Deol played a steady innings, scoring 46 runs off 65 balls with four fours and one six. She tried to rebuild the innings after quick wickets.

Jemimah Rodrigues also supported with 32 runs off 37 balls including five boundaries.

Even after crossing 40 overs, India Women were still below 200 runs, leaving them in a tough position to post a big score.

Fans React to the Toss Mistake

The toss blunder has become a hot topic online. Cricket fans are sharing clips and questioning how such a basic error happened in a World Cup match. Many called it “unfair” and demanded that the ICC issue clarification on the incident.

Despite the ongoing controversy, fans are hopeful that the match result will be decided purely by performance on the field, not by the toss error.
