Suryakumar Yadav interview after the win against Pakistan: After defeating Pakistan for the second time in the Asia Cup, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav urged everyone to stop calling the matches between the two countries a meaningful 'rivalry'.
The Indian team defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the Super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2025. Batting first in the match, Pakistan scored 171 runs in 20 overs, which India chased down with 7 balls to spare.
At a press conference, when a senior Pakistani journalist asked him if there was a significant difference in the level of play between the two teams, Suryakumar smiled and said, "Sir, I urge you to stop calling the India vs. Pakistan match a rivalry." The journalist clarified that he was referring to standards, not rivalry. Suryakumar quipped, "Sir, rivalry or standards, it's the same thing. A rivalry exists when two teams play 15 matches and the score is 7-7 or 8-7. That's called playing good cricket. 13-0, 10-1 (India leads)... I don't know what the stat is, but it's no longer a rivalry." Suryakumar then smiled and left the press room.
