SL vs BAN Asia Cup highlights: Bangladesh created a major upset by defeating Sri Lanka by four wickets. The current edition of the Asia Cup has reached the Super-4 stage. The first match of this stage was played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dubai on Saturday. Sri Lanka, batting first after losing the toss, scored 168 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh scored 169 runs for six wickets in 19.5 overs and won the match. For them, Saif Hasan scored 61 and Tauheed Hridoy played a stormy inning of 58 runs. Whereas, for Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka took two wickets each while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera got one success each.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave Sri Lanka a solid start. They shared a 44-run partnership for the first wicket, which was broken by Taskin Ahmed. Nissanka was caught by Saif Hasan, who was dismissed for 22, while Mendis made 34. Dasun Shanaka top-scored for Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 64, hitting three fours and six sixes. Kamil Mishara scored five, Kusal Perera 16, Charith Asalanka 21, Kamindu Mendis 1, and Wanindu Hasaranga 2. Meanwhile, for Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets, Mehidy Hasan 2, and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket.

Bangladesh got off to a shaky start. Nuwan Thushara bowled Tanzid Hasan off the fifth ball of the first over, failing to open his account. Saif Hasan then shared a 59-run partnership for the second wicket with Liton Das. Captain Liton was caught by Hasaranga off Nissanka. He returned after scoring 23 runs in 16 balls while Saif Hasan scored 61 runs. In this match, Tauheed Hridoy scored 58 runs and took the team to the threshold of victory. Zakir Ali scored nine runs. Shamim Hussain and Nasum Ahmed remained unbeaten on 14 and 1 runs respectively. Mehdi Hasan could not even open his account.
