Chasing a target of 196, India lost Abhishek Sharma early for 10. Sanju Samson then steadied the innings with prudence and intent. Ishan Kishan played some attacking shots before being dismissed, while captain Suryakumar Yadav briefly partnered with Samson. Tilak Verma added 27 valuable runs to help India keep the required run rate under control.

Sanju Samson played a special innings and broke Virat Kohli's record for most runs scored by an Indian in a T20 World Cup run chase. Samson surpassed Kohli's previous record of 82* against Australia in Mohali in 2016 and 82* against Pakistan in Melbourne in the 2022 edition.

In his stellar innings, Sanju hit 4 sixes and 12 fours, scoring at a strike rate of 194.00. He was named Player of the Match for his impressive innings. Now the Indian team has qualified for the semi-finals and will now face England in Semi-Final 2 on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
