Pakistan entered the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2025 after defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 41 runs in their Group A match. Pakistan struggled with the bat early on but bounced back with the ball to secure a comfortable win.

Pakistan’s Batting Struggle

Pakistan had a very poor start after they were asked to bat first. Both openers got out quickly – Saim Ayub scored 0 and Sahibzada Farhan made only 5 runs. At 9/2, Pakistan were under pressure.

Fakhar Zaman and Salman Ali Agha then tried to bring stability. They added 61 runs for the third wicket. Fakhar played well and scored 50 off 36 balls, while Agha made 20 from 27 balls but looked uneasy. After this stand, Pakistan kept losing wickets. Simranjeet Singh bowled impressively for UAE, picking up Fakhar, Hassan Nawaz, and Khushdil Shah in quick time.

At the end, Shaheen Shah Afridi surprised everyone with a quick innings of 29 runs off just 14 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. His late hitting helped Pakistan reach 146/9 in 20 overs. For UAE, Junaid Siddique shone with the ball, taking 4 wickets for only 18 runs.

UAE’s Run Chase

Chasing 147, UAE got off to another tough start. Shaheen Afridi dismissed opener Alishan Sharafu for 12, while Abrar Ahmed removed skipper Muhammad Waseem for 14. Soon, Saim Ayub bowled Zohaib Khan, leaving UAE in trouble.

Rahul Chopra and Dhruv Parashar gave some hope with a 48-run partnership, but Haris Rauf broke it by dismissing Parashar. After that, wickets fell quickly and UAE were bowled out for 105 runs in 17.4 overs.

The star of the innings was Abrar Ahmed, who bowled brilliantly and finished with 4 wickets for just 9 runs in his 4 overs. He was named Player of the Match.
