Mohammed Shami Interview: Mohammed Shami has recently given an interview to News24 Sports. This interview has come out after he was dropped from the Asia Cup 2025 team.

In this interview, he has said many things about his fitness, playing in Duleep Trophy and return to international cricket. He has clearly said that if he can play Duleep Trophy then why can't he play T20 cricket.

Team India's experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami did not get a place in the team for the England tour and Asia Cup 2025. The selectors had expressed concern about his fitness and due to this he had to stay out of the squad. Shami, who has been struggling between injury and rehab for a long time, has now given a clear message about his career. Shami's blunt message is that he will continue to play as long as he has passion for cricket. He made it clear that he is not affected by criticism or rumors and he will take the decision of retirement himself, not under any pressure. In an interview to a news channel, Shami clearly said that he has only one principle - 'If he is fully fit, he will play for the team, and if he is not fit, he will rest.' He also said that selection should be based on his fitness and performance, and not for any other reason. According to him, it is an honour for him to be a part of Team India and he is constantly working hard for this.

Shami's reaction on religious criticism

After the allegations against Shami, many religious leaders also reacted. Some criticized him for not fasting, while many others supported him. Religious scholars clarified that health and life are considered paramount in Islam and if a player finds it difficult to play while fasting, he can get exemption. They termed the sharp criticism against Shami as baseless and said that it is not right to pit sports and religion against each other. This senior fast bowler of the Indian team is currently struggling to secure his place in any format of international cricket.
