Bangladesh won their second match of the Asia Cup 2025 after beating Afghanistan by 8 runs in a close game. With this win, Bangladesh finished the group stage with two wins and one loss from three matches.

Bangladesh Bat First

Bangladesh captain won the toss and chose to bat. Their openers gave a strong start as Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan put on a 63-run stand in the first 6 overs. Saif scored 30 runs from 28 balls while Tanzid played an attacking knock of 52 from 31 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Even though Bangladesh lost wickets in the middle overs, they still managed to reach a good total of 154/5 in 20 overs. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad took two wickets each, and Azmatullah Omarzai picked one.

Afghanistan Chase Falls Short

While chasing 155 runs, Afghanistan started badly and lost two wickets for just 18 runs. Wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz tried to fight back with 35 runs from 31 balls but could not carry on. After he got out, Afghanistan slipped to 62/4.

Azmatullah Omarzai once again played an attacking knock, hitting 30 runs from only 16 balls with three sixes, while Rashid Khan added 20 runs from 11 balls. But both got out at the wrong time, and Afghanistan were bowled out for 146 in 20 overs.

Bowlers Shine for Bangladesh

Bangladesh bowlers kept calm under pressure. Mustafizur Rahman was the top bowler with 3 wickets. Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Nasum Ahmed supported well by taking 2 wickets each.
