Was Ravi Ashwin forced to retire?: The real reason behind Ravichandran Ashwin's retirement from the Indian team was not told, but he somewhere indicated that not getting a regular place in the playing eleven despite his brilliant record must have been humiliating for him.

His father further said that (retirement) is his (Ashwin's) wish and desire, I cannot interfere in it, but the way he retired, there can be many reasons for it. Only Ashwin knows, perhaps due to humiliation.

R Ashwin's father also revealed that he did not have much involvement in Ashwin's cricket career. He used to just take him on bike for practice. He said,

"I used to pick him up on bike and drop him for practice. I was not much involved in his cricket. What I did was to encourage him to focus on both studies and cricket. At home I used to talk to him, that's all. He did everything else (on his own). I did not do anything, because his clever mind and talent made him move ahead on his own. I did not help him much in cricket, but he did everything (on his own) on his own and with his brain work."

R Ashwin did not get a chance to play a farewell match

R Ashwin, who took the second highest number of wickets in international cricket for the Indian team, did not get a chance to play his farewell match. He got a chance in the Adelaide Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but he did not get a place in the playing-11 in the Gabba Test match. Jadeja was given a chance in his place. Jadeja played an important innings with the bat in the Gabba Test and after which it was expected that Jadeja would get a chance in the remaining two matches. In such a situation, Ashwin did not get a chance to play his farewell match.
