- The franchise then made him a full-time captain in 2013. The next season saw a hike of Rs 12.5 crore in Kohli's IPL salary. The 2016 season was the best for Kohli as he scored a record-breaking 973 runs including four centuries, helping RCB reach the finals.
- This incredible performance led to a further increase in his salary in 2018. When he became the most expensive player in the league with a salary of Rs 17 crore and this salary remained intact till 2021.
