Virat Kohli and Will Jacks power RCB to a big win vs GT

Will Jacks smashed a spectacular century, and Virat Kohli improved his middle-overs performance as Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans by nine wickets in the IPL on Sunday. Kohli, whose middle-overs technique had been questioned in the previous game, used the sweep shot against the spinners to make a statement before Jacks cut loose to reach the 201-run mark with 24 balls remaining.

Jacks went crazy in what turned out to be the game's last over, hitting as much as four sixes and four off Rashid Khan to end the game considerably sooner than planned. In his astonishing performance, the Englishman scored up to ten sixes.

When Shahrukh Khan came into bat, he took full advantage of his promotion in the batting order, while Sai Sudharsan remained till the end to lead Gujarat Titans to 200 for three.

Highlights of the match

RCB wins: After winning the toss, RCB chooses to bowl first. Jacks is now lying to Rashid. 6-6-4-6-6. What a way to end the game. Kohli is stunned. Rashid, too. And the final six led him to his first IPL hundred. A comprehensive set of slog sweeps to take out one of the league's greatest bowlers. Jacks proves he is the genuine thing. RCB has chased down 200 in just 16 overs, keeping its playoff chances alive.

177/1 for RCB in 15 overs: Mohit hits a sluggish ball with his back to Jacks, who again makes an early catch. Scrambles for a four. The following ball, he goes one better. Strong bond as he gets over the gate on the leg side. SIX! Mohit gives it a full toss now, and Jacks flicks it away for an additional six. Worse, it's a no-ball and RCB is now getting a free hit. Only a few of them, though. Jacks now goes straight. Returns full force for an additional six. Mohit is the one who is suffering the price since Jacks has found his groove. Another four and another swing through the line.

Shahrukh Khan after his half Century: It's my first visit at four. I had to wait it out. I needed to give Sai the strike early in the strike rotation against spinners. I will be batting at number four, Nehra informed me aboard the van before the game. (Pitch) In the first over, the ball spun a little, but the heat caused it to dry up. Although 200 is a respectable total, we must bowl effectively. I wanted to go out there and smash Karn straight in his game. I had to coach myself to go straighter since I used to go across. (Regarding Sudharsan): I've played with Sai for the past four years, and our friendship has been positive. I like playing in the centre. We have to bowl well now that we have achieved our goal of 200.

In 20 overs, GT 200/3: Dayal will bowl the last over. begins with an outside off that is broad. Once more, it's slow and brief, and Miller is pulling something moderate for a couple. Once more missing its mark, the wide yorker is ruled a wide ball. Miller took a good yorker and clipped away for another. The short ball tricks Sudharsan once more. Running down the boundary from midwicket to wide long-on and restricting it to a couple, Patidar does an excellent job.

SIX! Miller has sent one over deep midwicket for a massive maximum on the full toss to conclude the innings. For GT, that is 200 runs in 20 overs.

Maxwell is back: Glenn Maxwell, an Australian all-rounder, was added back to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru playing XI for their Sunday Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against the Gujarat Titans.
