Indian cricket legend and former Test team captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 7. Five days later, the team's star batsman Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket on May 12. But there has been no farewell match for these two players.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not yet made any announcement regarding the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket. But the Australian Cricket Board has made a plan to bid farewell to Rohit and Virat. The Indian team is going to tour Australia at the end of this year, where it will play a three-match ODI series. On this tour, Cricket Australia is going to organize a special farewell ceremony for these two great cricketers of India.
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg says that this could be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's last tour of Australia and they want to honor their great cricketing career. Todd Greenberg further said that I don't know if this will be their last tour or not, but they want to make it memorable for Rohit and Virat. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have recently retired from Test cricket, but both of them are still playing ODIs. Cricket Australia feels that they can retire from ODIs anytime, so they want to make this tour of Australia special for them.
