In 2023, then BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced on his social media that the prize money for domestic tournaments was being increased. The prize money was doubled for some tournaments and tripled for others. Following the new changes, the prize money for the Vijay Hazare Trophy increased by more than three times.

Before 2023, the team that won the Vijay Hazare Trophy received only ₹30 lakh as prize money. This amount has now been more than tripled. The champion team now receives ₹1 crore in prize money. This means that Vidarbha received ₹1 crore for winning the tournament. Previously, the runner-up team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy received only ₹15 lakh. Following the new changes, this amount has also been more than tripled. The Saurashtra cricket team received ₹50 lakh for finishing as runners-up.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 Final Match
In the final match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Saurashtra won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Vidarbha scored 317 runs. Opening batsman Atharva Taide played a magnificent innings of 128 runs off 118 balls, including 3 sixes and 15 fours. Yash Rathod also contributed a half-century (54).
Chasing the target, Saurashtra lost their first four wickets for 112 runs. A 93-run partnership between Chirag Jani and Prerak Mankad revived Saurashtra's hopes, but after this partnership was broken, the team's situation worsened. Ultimately, Saurashtra were all out for 279 runs. Vidarbha won the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 by 38 runs.
