Australia is now on top of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 points table after beating India by 3 wickets in Visakhapatnam. The defending champions made history by chasing the biggest target ever in Women’s ODI World Cup — 331 runs — with captain Alyssa Healy scoring a brilliant century.

Australia’s Record-Breaking Chase

Australia created history by successfully chasing a target of 331 runs, the highest chase ever in Women’s ODI World Cup history.

  • Alyssa Healy was the star of the match, scoring a brilliant 142 runs.
  • *Ellyse Perry (47)**, Phoebe Litchfield (40), and Ashleigh Gardner (45) also played key roles.
  • Perry, who was injured and had to retire hurt, came back later to finish the game and secure the win.

Australia reached the target with one over left, proving once again why they are the strongest team in women’s cricket.

India’s Strong Start, But Missed Chance

India batted first and got off to a fantastic start:

  • Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal added 155 runs for the first wicket.
  • Mandhana scored her fifty in 46 balls, while Rawal reached hers in 69 balls.
  • It was their sixth century partnership in ODIs — just one short of the Indian record held by Punam Raut and Mithali Raj.

However, after this great start, India’s middle order could not continue the momentum. Despite scoring over 330, their bowlers could not stop the Australian batters.

Indian Bowlers Tried to Fight Back

All-rounder Amanjot Kaur gave India a small chance by taking two wickets in two balls, but Australia’s Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth stayed calm to guide their team to victory.

India fielded well but lacked sharpness in bowling, which cost them the match.
