The Indian Premier League (IPL) is cricket's biggest and most exciting platform, where every match is sure to see a player shine. While centuries, five-wicket hauls, or all-round performances often grab headlines, the rarest and most impressive achievement is winning the Player of the Match (POTM) award in three consecutive matches—a feat commonly referred to as a Player of the Match hat-trick.

Achieving this feat requires more than just a few moments of brilliance in one or two matches, but rather maintaining an exceptional level of performance for three consecutive matches. Despite varying pitch conditions, different opposition teams, and the pressure of team expectations, players must prove their best each time. To date, no player has won four consecutive POTM awards.

1. Sameer Rizvi

Samir Rizvi has joined an exclusive club by winning the 'Player of the Match' award in Delhi's final match of IPL 2025, as well as in both of his opening matches of the 2026 season. In the final match of the 2025 season, he played a pivotal role in chasing down a target of 207 runs against the Punjab Kings, scoring an unbeaten 58 runs off just 25 balls. Subsequently, at the start of the 2026 season, he scored 70 runs off 47 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, followed by a magnificent innings of 90 runs off 51 balls against the Mumbai Indians. A remarkable aspect of these achievements is that two of these performances were delivered while playing as an 'Impact Player,' thereby further underscoring his immense value to the team.

2. Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was the first player to achieve this feat. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010, he scored an unbeaten 89 runs off 55 balls and also took a wicket in the very first match. Subsequently, against the Rajasthan Royals, he scored 44 runs and claimed two wickets, leading his team to a 10-wicket victory. In the third match, he scored 66 runs against the Mumbai Indians, securing an easy win for the team. Consistency and balance were clearly evident in his performance.

3. Virender Sehwag

Playing for the Gujarat Lions, Finch delivered stellar performances against KXIP, Rising Pune Supergiant, and MI, helping his team successfully chase down targets of 162, 164, and 144 runs. Of all these innings, perhaps the most memorable was the slowest one an unbeaten 67 off 54 balls—which secured a last-ball victory for the team against MI at the Wankhede Stadium.

5. Virat Kohli

During his magnificent 2016 season, Virat Kohli earned the 'Man of the Match' (POTM) title three consecutive times a campaign in which he amassed a record breaking 973 runs at an average of 81.08. Two vastly different half-centuries crafted at strike rates of 147 and 120 steered RCB to victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Daredevils. However, the 'Chase Master's' most memorable innings remains his blistering 113 against KXIP, scored off just 50 balls and featuring 12 fours and eight sixes.
