Australia was leading the 2011/12 four-match Test series 3–0 and opted to bat first in the Fourth Test at the Adelaide Oval. Australia lost early wickets as they were reduced to 84-3 when Clarke came to the crease with Ponting. Former skipper Michael Clarke and former skipper - Ricky Ponting both scored double hundreds as they shared a 386-run partnership to demolish India, who had already lost their confidence and the series. Australia scored 604 runs in their first innings and whitewashed India by winning the fourth Test by 298 runs.

It is safe to call this partnership between Laxman and Dravid one of the greatest comebacks ever. When was the last time you saw a team win after being asked to follow on? The home team were bowled out for 171 in their first innings in reply to Australia's 445. They looked much better in their second innings, but when captain Sourav Ganguly fell for 48 and India was 232 for 4, there was much to worry about. It was then that Dravid joined hands with the very special Laxman to put on a record 376 runs for the 5th wicket. The partnership became the platform for India's incredible 171-run victory in the Test

When it comes to a series win at home for India, few can top this series. It was the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2013, in which Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara put on the third highest partnership in the history of Indian cricket. After losing Sehwag in the first innings, Pujara joined Vijay and the two of them put on a mammoth 370-run partnership for the second wicket. However, more than 100 overs and 370 runs later, a brilliant partnership between the two India batsmen came to an end with Murali Vijay's dismissal for 167. Cheteshwar Pujara completed his double century soon after his partner's dismissal, but he too was dismissed for 204.

In the 2003/04 Test series between India and Australia, the series was tied at 1–1 in the Fourth Test. India won the toss and opted to bat first on a flat wicket in Sydney. Sachin Tendulkar was struggling for form in the last Test as he was getting out while driving the ball. India's scoreboard was 194-3. Tendulkar and Laxman came together when three wickets fell, and they didn't look back. Tendulkar scored 241 and Laxman made 178 as they shared a 353-run partnership that helped India reach 705 before declaring. Eventually, the match ended in a draw and the series result was 1–1.
