More than half of the year 2025 has passed, yet no bowler has been able to take even 40 wickets in Test matches. Whereas last year i.e. in 2024, Jaspreet Bumrah took 71 wickets in Test matches. Talking about 2025, the bowler who takes the most wickets is not from Australia, India or New Zealand, but from Zimbabwe.
The bowler who has taken the most Test wickets in 2025 is Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani, who has taken 36 wickets in 9 matches so far. Australia's Mitchell Starc is at number two with 29 wickets and India's Mohammad Siraj is at number three with 27 wickets in 6 matches so far. Siraj took 23 of these wickets in the five-match Test series against England.
So far, the spinner who has taken the most wickets in 2025 is Australia's Nathan Lyon, who has taken 24 wickets in 6 matches. At the same time, West Indies' dangerous fast bowler Shamar Joseph is at fifth place in this list with 22 wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah, the world's number-1 Test cricket bowler, is not even in the top-5 in terms of taking the most wickets. Bumrah has taken 16 wickets in 4 Test matches so far this year. He is ranked 13th in terms of taking the most wickets in 2025. Apart from Mohammad Siraj, only Prasidh Krishna is in the top-10. After Siraj, the second highest wicket-taker this year is Prasidh Krishna, who has taken 20 wickets so far.
