Tim David scored fastest T20I century: Tim David broke records with a blistering innings in St Kitts. He hit Australia's fastest T20I century off 37 balls while chasing a target of 215 against the West Indies.
Coming in on the last ball of the powerplay after the third wicket fell, David turned the match around by hitting a boundary off the very first ball. His momentum picked up with two terrific six-hitting overs and he smashed nine sixes in three consecutive overs against Gudakesh Moti, Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase. David reached 50 off just 16 balls, surpassing Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head's joint Australian record of half-centuries in 17 balls.
By hitting his first T20 century, David broke the Australian men's record of his teammate Josh Inglis, who scored a century off 43 balls against Scotland in Edinburgh last year.
Sharing a 128-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Mitchell Owen (who scored a quickfire 36 off just 16 balls), David put the finishing touches on the match with his sixth boundary to bring up his historic century and take Australia to victory in just 16.1 overs, giving the visitors an unassailable 3–0 lead in the five-match series.
David, playing his first competitive innings since May 23, suffered a hamstring injury and subsequently missed Royal Challengers Bangalore's winning run in the playoffs, en route to their maiden title. Among Australian batsmen, only Aaron Finch (14) has bettered David's 11 maximums in an innings.
