Team India have enjoyed a strong campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 so far. Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, the team made a flying start by winning all four matches in the group stage.
India began their journey with comfortable wins against the United States national cricket team and the Namibia national cricket team. The highlight of the group stage was a dominant 61-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan national cricket team, which confirmed India’s place in the Super 8 round.
In the final group-stage match, India defeated the Netherlands national cricket team by 17 runs at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India’s Road to the T20 World Cup 2026 Final
India faced a setback in the Super 8 stage when they lost by 76 runs to the South Africa national cricket team. However, the team quickly bounced back with important wins over the Zimbabwe national cricket team and the West Indies cricket team to reach the semifinals.
In the semifinal clash against the England cricket team, India held their nerve and secured a thrilling seven-run victory to book their place in the final.
Now, India will face the New Zealand national cricket team on March 8 in Ahmedabad. A win would make India the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup three times.

The Narendra Modi Stadium has been a favourable venue for India in T20 Internationals. The team has played 10 T20I matches at this ground and has recorded seven wins.
