Sri Lanka has announced the replacement for the injured Ehsan Malinga for the T20 World Cup 2026. Pramod Madushan will replace Malinga in the tournament. Malinga sustained a shoulder injury during the second match of the recently concluded T20 International series against England.
Ehsan Malinga injured his shoulder while bowling the first ball after a rain delay during the match. He fell after delivering the ball and injured his left shoulder. This injury ruled him out of the third T20 International match.
Pramod Madushan will replace Eshan Malinga
Ehsan Malinga had impressed considerably with his performance in IPL 2025, which earned him a place in Sri Lanka's bowling attack. He made his T20 International debut last November and took eight wickets at an economy rate of 9.41.
Pramod Madushan is a right-arm medium-fast bowler for the Sri Lankan national team. As of February 7, 2026, he has been named as the replacement for the injured Eshan Malinga in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup
Pramod Madushan, a 32-year-old medium-pace bowler, has played 13 ODIs and eight T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka, taking a total of 28 wickets in white-ball cricket. He last played a T20 International for Sri Lanka in 2023.
