India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined his match fee for his actions during the match against Pakistan. Pakistan had complained to the ICC about Suryakumar Yadav's political statements after the team's victory in the match on September 14. He has been fined for this.
According to news agency PTI, at the post-match prize distribution ceremony, Suryakumar dedicated Pakistan's victory to the Pahalgam victims and the armed forces.
Surya Kumar Yadav has been found guilty and banned from making any political statements in the upcoming matches of the tournament. ICC match referee Richie Richardson heard the case. Team India did not shake hands with the Pakistani players after the match. Surya Kumar also refused to shake hands with Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss.
Team India took this step in response to the Pahalgam attack in April, in which 26 Indians were killed. Following this, voices against Pakistan grew louder in India, and the match was even protested. However, Team India played the match but did not speak or shake hands with the Pakistani players.
After defeating Pakistan by seven wickets, Suryakumar Yadav said at the prize distribution ceremony, "This is the right time. We stand with the victims of the Pahalgam attack. We stand with them. We want to dedicate this victory to our armed forces who showed indomitable courage."
