IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have confirmed that Pat Cummins will stay as their captain for the IPL 2026 season. The announcement was made on Monday, November 17. This will be the third year in a row that the Australian fast bowler will lead the team.
Cummins became the SRH captain in 2024 and took the team to the IPL final in his first season. But the 2025 season was not very good for SRH, as they finished in 6th place with six wins and one no-result (13 points). Even then, the team management has full trust in him.

SRH Retained and Released Players for IPL 2026
A few days earlier, SRH also announced the list of players they will keep and release before the IPL 2026 auction, which will take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.

Pat Cummins Prepares for Ashes Test
In international cricket, Pat Cummins was ruled out of the first Ashes Test against England in Perth. However, he was seen bowling for one hour in the nets today. This shows he is trying to get fit for the second Test in Brisbane on December 4.
Because Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are injured, Australia may give Brendan Doggett his debut in the first Test.
