Smriti Mandhana has become the fastest batsman to score 5,000 runs in ODI cricket. She achieved this feat in the 13th match of the 2025 Women's World Cup, in which India and Australia clashed. Smriti Mandhana scored a half-century of 80 runs in this match and shared an opening partnership of 155 runs with Pratik Raval.

In fact, Mandhana has now surpassed Virat Kohli and Viv Richards as the fastest run-scorer in ODI cricket. The Indian team had scored 330 runs in the first innings.

Virat Kohli and Viv Richards took 114 innings to reach 5,000 runs in ODI cricket. However, Smriti Mandhana reached 5,000 runs in the 112th innings of her ODI career. With this, Mandhana became the fastest woman to reach 5,000 runs in women's ODI cricket. Previously, this record was held by West Indies' legendary batsman Stafanie Taylor, who achieved this feat in 129 innings.

Combining the statistics for men's and women's cricket, Smriti Mandhana has become the third-fastest woman to reach 5,000 runs. Only Babar Azam (97 innings) and Hashim Amla (101 innings) are ahead of her in this regard. Mandhana has reached the third-fastest mark on the list with 112 innings.

Smriti Mandhana has become the first female cricketer to score 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. She achieved this feat in a World Cup match against Australia. Australia's Belinda Clark holds the record for the second highest run-scorer in this format, having scored 970 runs in 1997. Mandhana has already scored four ODI centuries this year and will become the leading run-scorer for women in ODIs in 2025.
