With this century, Gill equaled Virat Kohli’s record for scoring the most Test centuries by an Indian captain in a single calendar year.
In 2025, Gill has now scored five Test centuries as captain — four during the England tour and one at home against West Indies.
Earlier, Virat Kohli had achieved this record twice, making five centuries as captain in both 2017 and 2018.
