Gujarat Titans suffered the biggest defeat by runs in their IPL history on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Gujarat Titans suffered a 63-run defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in the seventh match of IPL 2024.

Shubman Gill fined for maintaining slow over-rate against CSK: Gill, 24, took over the captaincy duties from Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title in 2022 and finished runners-up in 2023 before moving to Mumbai Indians this season.

GT found themselves on the wrong side of the IPL code of conduct as their captain Gill was fined for the team's slow over-rate during the CSK vs GT match. He was fined Rs 12 lakh. The incident was his first offense of the season in relation to minimum over-rate offenses under the IPL's code of conduct.

Shubman Gill's statement, When he was batting, he defeated us. When he was bowling, his execution was precise. We encouraged ourselves to score well in the powerplay, but when our innings faltered, we could not do anything.

In T20 you always talk about 10-15 runs here and there, but it is all about how much he scored. We expected to chase 190 or 200, but we could have talked about how to hit some boundaries. This pitch was good. We were hopeful that we could achieve the target. But we disappointed ourselves in batting.

CSK vs GT Highlights

Chennai Super Kings, who came to bat first, made a great start with brilliant innings by Rachin Ravindra (46 runs on 20 balls) and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (46 runs on 36 balls). Shivam Dubey (51 runs on 23 balls) played an aggressive innings in the middle order and scored 206/6.

Rashid Khan took two wickets but he gave away runs with both hands. In reply, Gujarat's batting faltered and except Sai Sudarshan (37 runs off 31 balls), no batsman could show any fight and CSK won the match by 63 runs at the score of 143/8.
