IND vs ENG: The second match of the five-match Test series between India and England is going on at Edgbaston in Birmingham. By the end of the first day's play, the Indian team has scored 310 runs for the loss of five wickets in their first innings. Captain Shubman Gill is unbeaten on 114 runs and Ravindra Jadeja is unbeaten on 41 runs. So far, there has been an unbeaten partnership of 99 runs between the two. Gill scored a century in the second consecutive Test in England. This was his second century as captain and seventh in Tests.
His record in England was not very special before this, but after taking the responsibility on this tour, a great change has been seen in him. He is the second Indian captain to score a century on the Edgbaston ground. Since coming to bat at number four, he has made this batting position his own like King Virat Kohli. Not only this, Gill has also become the second Indian captain to score a century in two consecutive Tests in England.
Shubman Gill has become the third Indian captain to score centuries in two consecutive Test matches against England. Before him, this feat was achieved by Mohammad Azharuddin (Lord's and Old Trafford in 1990) and Vijay Hazare (1951-52). Gill scored 147 runs in the first innings of the Leeds Test, and now he has maintained his form by scoring a century at Edgbaston as well.

Gill, popularly known as Gill, is following in the footsteps of King Kohli. His first three innings as captain were of 147 runs, 8 runs and 114* runs. On the other hand, Kohli's first three innings as captain were of 115 runs, 141 runs and 147 runs. There are many similarities between the two. Gill scored a century in the first innings of his very first match (in Leeds) as captain.
King Kohli also did this in 2014. He then scored 115 runs in the first innings and 141 runs in the second innings. Gill scored a century in his very first innings at number four. Kohli also did the same in 2013. Before the tour of South Africa in 2013, Kohli had never batted at number four. Debuting at number four against South Africa at the Wanderers, Kohli scored 119 runs in his very first innings.
