SA20 2026: Retained Players List and Remaining Salary: The new season of South Africa's T20 league SA20 will start at the end of the year from December 26. At the same time, the first auction is to be held on September 9. Before the auction, on Wednesday, all six teams revealed their retention list, in which the option of selecting only six players through retain, pre-sign and wild card was given. For this reason, all the teams have selected the players of their choice for the next season and will make the rest a part of their squad through auction.

South Africa's dashing batsman Aiden Markram took a big decision, and he will be seen in the auction. Markram refused to be retained with Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Under his captaincy, the team played three consecutive finals and also became champion twice. While it was the runner-up last season. However, Sunrisers will have the option to use the right-to-match card if they wish to buy Markram back.

Earlier this year, in a major change to the auction process, SA20 decided not to allow more than six retentions or pre-signed players, the least in the tournament's short history. For the first time, a wildcard option has been added that allows franchises to pick a player at a price outside the purse, this player can be domestic or international. This will be the biggest auction since the tournament began in 2022, with 72 out of a total of 102 places available for the six franchises. The purse value limit has been increased from around US$2.2 million to around US$2.31 million.
